Water hygiene And Sanitation
Ensuring access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation (WASH) facilities protects communities from preventable diseases including dysentery, cholera, diarrhea and Hepatitis. However according to Luuka district local government report 2017, the latrine coverage stands at 65%, much lower than the national target of 72%.
In addition, an estimated 30% of district residents wash hands with soap after visiting the latrine compared to the national target of 50% for the year 2015. Luuka district safe water coverage at only 69.6% with average walking distance to safe water point as 1.5KM
